This tool can be used to lock an engine piston thereby facilitating the removal of crankshaft nuts. The tool has a domed plastic end to prevent damage to the surface of the piston, making it an invaluable tool when working on two stroke engines.

That said, it must be used with caution because if undue force is applied to the crankshaft it may be possible to damage either the tool or the pistonm, crank, connecting rod and/or bearings. The use of high torque impact wrenches would not be advised and we sell this with the assumption that the user will have sufficient experience to understand what is a safe torque to use.

Particularly recommended for KTM XC, EXC, SX 300, 250, 200, 125 and 50cc machines.

Motorcycle stud installation kit. This is a great innovative new product. We liked what we saw and have just test driven the M10 x 1.25 driver with the studs on a GPZ 1100 Unitrak engine we're building! It is a cracking tool and the test kit is now in our roller cab! The tool grips the top of the stud threads and has a ball bearing that bears on the top face of the stud therefore not causing any damage. You can sometimes install studs by locking two nuts together, but on many head studs there isn't enough thread to get a good lock. These head and barrel studs were a typical example of a situation when the two lock nuts wouldn't work.

It is suitable for M6 x 1.0, M8 x 1.25 and M10 x 1.25 thread studs and is used by a 19mm spanner or socket.

This is a fab bit of kit. Whilst the traditional lapping stick has been around for years and will get the job done, no one has ever said that it's a joy to use. This tool fits in a standard cordless drill chuck and makes lapping valves a whole load easier. We discovered this tool after searching for years for an answer to the problem of fitting pistons in bores. We initially bought a pair of sets to fit the pistons on a Kawasaki Z1100 shaft which had been bored out for high compression aftermarket pistons and had virtually no lead into the bore. (See the video on installing pistons) The tool proved to be fantastic and very much got our seal of approval. This tool is pretty much the same as teh more expensive Laser tool, above, but you need a spanner to use it rather than the supplied handle above. This set used to come with the handle, as can be seen by the case moulding, but they have been able to slash the price by not making the handles.

Using this 9 piece set, bearings are simply pressed in.

There is a bearing seating tool to start off the installation of taper roller bearings.

We have never found such an elegant solution to installing headstock bearings. Before we discovered this tool we spent hours machining up metal on the lathe to install bearings, but this is a fabulous tool ensuring that bearings are installed properly and quickly.

Many bikes, especially classic two strokes like Kawasaki H1, H2, S1, S2, S3, KHs etc had inaccurate ignition marks from the factory, some so bad that if you timed the bike from them you would be holing pistons! Many factory workshop manuals admit this. Many set the timing mark as a piston height before TDC (Top Dead Centre). This means that you screw the applicable adapters into the spark plug hole to hold the dial gauge in the correct place and turn the engine over until the piston is shown by the dial gauge indicates the piston to be at the top of the stroke or TDC. You can then turn the engine backwards until the dial indicates that you have dropped the correct amount eg Kawasaki S2 fires with the piston at 2.4mm before TDC (BTDC) and you can then re-mark the flywheel or back plate correctly. This kit contains a dial gauge, extentions for the dial gauge plunger, adapter for the dial gauge and an extention for this adapter and adapters to fit 10mm, 12mm and 14mm plug holes. This is a professional set but, as can be seen from the photo, the plating on some of the adapters leaves a bit to be desired. Whist we don't like the qaulity of finish it is a perfectly useable product at a very good price.
