We have used tank protectors in our workshop ever since they were invented. It's so easy to drop a tool, part or corrosive fluid on the tank and this gives the paint work a far better chance of survival. It won't stop a 4 pound lump hammer dropped from six feet, but a small hand tool slipping from your hand will not scratch paint if you have a tank protector. We leave them on all bike tanks parked in our workshop all the time
Underneath it has an anti-slip cushion material and on top an easy wipe clean nylon surface. It makes no difference what the tank it made of it still offers great protection from accidental scratches and spillages, particularly brake fluid splashes.

Not used these yet, however, they appear to be good quality and also referenced from the Haynes Manual for the Ducati Scrambler 803 so I'm hopeful these will allow me to do the belt change with minimal issues.

I fitted this on Bikers Toolbox Advice to my 1967 Positive Earth Triumph that I was fitting with LED indicators, but i wired the flasher with L to Live from the battery as advised ( normally L is to indicator and B to battery). It worked a treat
