This tool is used on more modern bikes with hollow wheel spindles. It is suitable for sizes 17mm, 19mm, 22mm and 24mm which covers the vast majority of bikes with this type of spindle. You can use either a 3/8" socket wrench or a suitable socket for the end opposite the end that you have fitted into the spindle.
