This tool is used to hold the bucket down on classic Kawasaki Z1 based engines whilst the shims are changed. Using a spanner or socket on the end of the crankshaft, you turn the crank until the lobe of cam, for the valve you are working on, compresses the spring pushing the bucket down. You then insert the tool so that the little spiggott just holds the edge of the bucket, being secured by the supplied 6mm cap screw inserted in one of the threaded holes used to hold down the cam cover ordinarily. Once the tool is in place, the cam can be backed off by turning the crank the other way. Now the shim can easily be removed. The easiest method is the use a pair of forceps and a slim magnetic pick up tool. Whilst this tool does work the genuine Kawasaki tool is a better bet, but you do pay for the superior tool.

from 606 reviewsReally quick delivery and a great addition when rebuilding bluespots.
Quality item, so much better than generic kit you can get on line. Repeat customer, says it all.
Fantastic done the job thank you
I hate changing tyres, but this stuff made the job much easier.
I broke the bead on the old tyre then applied the paste with a paint brush. Ten year old Bridgestone slid off easily and the new Heidenau, with very stiff sidewalls, was fitted much more easily than when I’d tried with washing-up liquid.
perfect tool, good manufacred, speed delivery
After having struggled trying to set the pilot air screws on my Suzuki’s carb’s - I saw this recommended in Classic Motorcycle Mechanics and it is an excellent piece of kit and well made too.
Excellent quality, first time I’ve used ‘ball-ended’ they were so much more adaptable when trying to access restricted spaces. Well worth it !
Great product,keen price great service
The right length, the right colour and with crocodile clips on the ends...
Quality product, reasonable price
Made the whole job so much easier, using the proper tools for the job gives you a sense of a job well done.
