This clever little device can remain attached to a bike or if you have a fleet can be swapped around bikes whose batteries you want to monitor. It will constantly record the battery voltage at all time including riding, charging and starting.
It has a very small footprint and will find a hole to live in on almost any bike. It's data is displayed on your smart phone on a free to download app. Because it is constantly recording the battery voltage, it can highlight many issues including a faulty regulator/rectifier or alternator. It will give a battery efficacy test by recording the volt drop on the battery when the starter motor is running which can highlight a dying battery. It is important that a battery can perform under load as well as show a good voltage with no services attached.
The software can be downloaded from Apple's App Store or Google Play store under JMP Battery Monitor II.
The recorded data can be sent by email and can be displayed in a spreadsheet like Microsoft Excel.

The tool works perfectly and is a good alternative to the original. It's a shame that the UK is no longer in the EU. Customs duties make it expensive, but I couldn't find anything cheaper on the European mainland.
Bought one of these when I started as an apprentice toolmaker in 1968, After several new heads both hyde and copper, I thought it was time to replace it.
