Ferrule type crimp connectors have grown in popularity over the years particularly when fitting aftermarket electronics to vehicles. Particularly useful for fitting auxiliary power management systems, charge controller, etc. where screw type connectors are used. The ferrules are crimped on to the end of a bare wire to improve support of the wire and the connection quality. The 4 tooth crimping tool supplied ensures a tidy and very strong crimp. Quicker and easier than tinning the wire end. The coloured shroud provides additional support to the wire where it meets the connection. This tool automatically sets itself to the correct size, many other such tools require manual settings.

• Tinning the wire with solder has been seen by some as a solution, but this is not good practice on motorcycles, cars or marine applications because applying solder to wires changes them from multi filament flexible wire into single conductor cable not suitable for applications where movement or vibration occur
